Location between Centraal Station and Dam Square
The hotel sits in the old medieval center, just off the Nieuwendijk shopping street. Trains arriving from Schiphol and the rest of the Netherlands are a short walk away at Centraal. The Royal Palace, the Nieuwe Kerk and Beursplein are all within about ten minutes on foot.
The square in front is car-free, so the entrance feels calmer than the Damrak side of the station. The streets around it are still some of the busiest in Amsterdam, though, with shops, fast food and late-evening foot traffic. Light sleepers should ask for a high floor. The hotel treats this as a request and cannot guarantee it.
The site also has some history. Historians believe the castle of Gijsbrecht van Amstel may once have stood here. Archaeological finds from the hotel’s construction are displayed in cases in the lounge.
Rooms and suites
Every room has air conditioning, coffee and tea facilities, a mini fridge, a laptop-sized safe, a hairdryer, free Wi-Fi and a TV with Google Chromecast. Every room also has a walk-in shower, including the ones with a bubble bath. Irons and ironing boards are kept in the hallways rather than the rooms.

The 2018–2020 refurbishment redesigned the rooms around Amsterdam themes. Guest rooms show bridges and landmarks, corridor room numbers look like Amsterdam street signs, and the carpet copies the city’s cobblestones. Designer pieces come from Tonone, Marset and Bert Plantagie.
Wellness Club, breakfast and bar
The Wellness Club has a Finnish sauna, a Turkish steam bath and a small Life Fitness gym with a treadmill, step trainer, exercise bike and weight bench. It is open from 07:00 to 22:00 for hotel guests only. The hotel supplies towels but does not offer massages or other treatments.
Breakfast is an international buffet that includes bubbles, orange juice and warm rolls. It runs from 07:00 to 10:00 on weekdays and until 11:00 at weekends. The hotel has a bar but no restaurant of its own. Humphrey’s, next door, handles room service for an extra €12.50 per order. You can also get room-service breakfast if you order it by 23:00 the night before.
Sustainability at Inntel Hotels
Inntel Hotels calls its approach “Surprisingly Sustainable” and describes it as respect for people and the planet. The clearest documented example at this hotel comes from the refurbishment. Board manufacturer UNILIN Panels collected Inntel’s old furniture and supplied panels made from 100% recycled material for the new custom-built interiors. The group has not published property-level energy or waste figures for this hotel, so treat broader green claims with caution.
Getting to Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Centre
From Schiphol Airport
The direct train from Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal takes about 14–17 minutes. From Centraal, walk about five minutes south-west to Nieuwezijds Kolk. The hotel does not offer an airport transfer. By tram, car or bike
