— LOCAL GEMS

We, Devinder and Tim, the founders, have always been passionate about ginger beer, which in turn led us to start brewing it in our homes in Amsterdam. In search of the perfect ginger beer, we crafted the recipe for a small try-out, and within no time, our ginger beer became very popular among friends and family. The popularity and feedback seeded the idea for us to start producing the ginger beer for local restaurants and cafes, in and around Amsterdam. The idea behind the drinks produced by Amsterdam City Farm is to provide people with a delicious, organic and wholesome alternative to alcoholic drinks, to be had with good food, or as a refreshing alternative for a beer on the beautiful terraces of Amsterdam.

Amsterdam City Farm Ginger Beer represents a revolutionary approach to urban brewing, combining sustainable agriculture with artisanal beverage production. This unique operation transforms locally grown ginger and herbs into exceptional craft ginger beer, proving that innovative farming and brewing can thrive in the heart of the city.
What makes Amsterdam City Farm Ginger Beer truly special is its farm-to-bottle philosophy. The ginger and many botanicals used in their brews are grown right here in Amsterdam’s urban farms, creating an incredibly fresh and local product. This direct connection between agriculture and brewing results in ginger beers with unmatched vibrancy and flavor complexity.
Unlike mass-produced ginger beers, Amsterdam City Farm uses traditional fermentation methods combined with modern brewing techniques. Each batch is carefully crafted using fresh ginger root, organic cane sugar, and a proprietary blend of spices and botanicals. The result is a naturally carbonated, probiotic-rich beverage that’s both refreshing and beneficial for digestive health.
Amsterdam City Farm offers several ginger beer varieties, each with its own character. The classic version delivers a perfect balance of spicy ginger heat and subtle sweetness, while seasonal variations might include lavender from local gardens, elderflower, or fresh mint. Limited editions often feature experimental combinations that showcase the diversity of urban farming.
Every aspect of production reflects a commitment to sustainability. From composting spent ginger to using renewable energy in the brewing process, Amsterdam City Farm Ginger Beer demonstrates how urban food production can be both delicious and environmentally responsible. The brewery even offers tours that educate visitors about urban farming and sustainable brewing practices.
While excellent on its own, Amsterdam City Farm Ginger Beer also serves as a premium mixer for cocktails. Its complex flavor profile elevates classic drinks like Moscow Mules and Dark ‘n’ Stormys, while its natural spiciness makes it a perfect non-alcoholic alternative for those seeking sophisticated beverage options.
By choosing Amsterdam City Farm Ginger Beer, you’re supporting more than just a beverage company – you’re backing Amsterdam’s urban farming movement and sustainable food systems. Each bottle represents a commitment to local production, environmental stewardship, and the belief that cities can be productive agricultural spaces. It’s a refreshing reminder that the best flavors often come from the most unexpected places.
