Rouhi - Amsterdam

Is Rouhi still open?

No. Restobar Rouhi, the Asian restaurant inside House of Rituals at Spui 10, closed permanently on January 5, 2026. Rituals Café opened in the same space on February 27, 2026, and Renaud Goigoux, the chef many Amsterdammers know from Rouhi, now runs its dinner menu.

If Rouhi is saved on an old list or a friend recommended it, Rituals Café is what you’ll find at that address today. Below: what the café serves, how it differs from Rouhi, its listed hours, and how to get there.

What’s at Spui 10 now: Rituals Café

Rituals Café is the cosmetics brand’s first hospitality concept, set inside its House of Rituals flagship store. Rituals describes it as a more accessible, all-day format than Rouhi, and the menu reflects that.

  • Morning: specialty coffee, matcha, yogurt with granola, avocado toast, and homemade apple pie and cinnamon buns.
  • Lunch: straightforward classics such as shrimp brioche, steak frites, melanzane, salads, snacks, and shared bites.
  • Early evening: a daily aperitivo moment, with cocktails, mocktails, and champagne on the drinks list.
  • Dinner: an Asian-inspired menu by Goigoux, including a chef’s menu with sashimi of the fish of the day with plum and shiso.
  • To go: a counter with drinks, sweets, and bonbons and ice cream from Amsterdam chocolatier Madaq.

The café’s website, ritualscafe.nl, previously belonged to Rouhi and still shows the Rouhi name in its browser title. That’s likely why some map apps and directories still list Rouhi as open.

What Rouhi was known for

Rouhi opened with House of Rituals in the Afrikahuis, an 1892 building on the corner of Spui and Kalverstraat. Its name combines Arabic words meaning “my soul,” and interior studio Estida designed the dining room, which Gault&Millau described as serene and classy against the bustle of the city center.

The kitchen cooked Asian dishes with Western influences. Gault&Millau highlighted bao buns with Japanese-style braised beef, mustard seed, hoisin, and chili; juicy chicken-thigh yakitori finished with furikake; and desserts such as frozen mochi and yuzu lemon tart. By 2025, the chef’s menu ran from two courses for €29 to six courses for €65.

Rouhi’s own description leaned on two drinks: the Rouhi Espresso Martini, made with a “secret Rouhi ingredient,” and a Kombucha Margarita. Its farewell notice said a large part of the team would return with a new concept at the same location, and Rituals Café is that concept.

How to get to Spui 10

House of Rituals stands on Spui square in central Amsterdam, a short walk south of Dam Square via Kalverstraat or Rokin.

  • Tram 2 or 12: get off at Spui on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.
  • Tram 4, 14, or 24: get off at Spui on Rokin.
  • Metro: get off at Rokin station on the Noord/Zuidlijn and walk a few minutes to Spui.
  • Bike: use the racks around Spui and bring a sturdy lock, because bike theft is common in the center.
  • Taxi: the streets around Spui are narrow and crowded, so getting dropped off nearby and walking the last stretch is usually quicker.

Trams and metro are cashless: tap a contactless bank card or phone when you board and when you leave. Our OVpay guide explains the daily fare cap, and the Amsterdam transportation guide covers trams, metro, and ferries.

In a map app, search for “House of Rituals Spui” or “Rituals Café Amsterdam” rather than “Rouhi,” since some apps may still show the old restaurant listing.
