Sir Albert Hotel is a 90-room boutique hotel in a former 19th-century diamond factory at Albert Cuypstraat 2-6, at the western end of the Albert Cuyp Market in Amsterdam’s De Pijp district. The building explains the rooms. Diamond polishers needed as much daylight as possible, so the factory was built with very large windows, and the hotel kept them along with the high ceilings and original historical details. Most rooms look out onto Albert Cuypstraat or the inner courtyard, so you get either street life or quiet.

Izakaya, The Study and the Gym
Izakaya Asian Kitchen & Bar, the hotel’s restaurant, serves Japanese cooking with a South American twist, plus a long cocktail list. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it gets busy with locals as well as hotel guests, so book a table for weekend evenings. The Study is the lounge just inside the entrance. It has a fireplace and a bar, and works for a quiet drink or a laptop session. The hotel gym is not in the main building. What’s Near Sir Albert in De Pijp
The hotel is at the start of the Albert Cuyp Market, which runs for about a kilometer and trades Monday to Saturday from roughly 9:30 to 17:00. It is closed on Sundays. Best Time to Stay
Late spring (April and May) and early autumn (September and October) usually bring mild weather for walking around De Pijp and eating outside, without the peak-summer crowds. Book from Monday to Saturday if the market is a big reason you are staying here, because a Sunday-to-Monday stay means waking up to an empty street.

Getting to Sir Albert Hotel
The fastest route from Schiphol skips Centraal Station entirely. Take a train to Amsterdam Zuid, which takes about 6 to 7 minutes, then take metro 52 north to De Pijp, about 4 minutes. The De Pijp station exit is on the corner of Ferdinand Bolstraat and Albert Cuypstraat, a couple of minutes on foot from the hotel.
