Compartir is permanently closed. The wine bar and shared-plates restaurant at Spaarndammerstraat 49H in Amsterdam West is no longer operating. The space is now Hummus & Habibis, a Syrian restaurant and bar that opened in 2025. How we know Compartir has closed
Amsterdam restaurant guide De Buik van Amsterdam lists Compartir as permanently closed. The unit has also been taken over. I amsterdam’s June 2025 roundup of new restaurants included Hummus & Habibis at Spaarndammerstraat 49 H, and a company called Hummus & Habibis Restaurant B.V. was registered at the address in April 2025. Hummus & Habibis says on its own website that it opened its first restaurant and bar in Amsterdam in 2025.
Compartir’s old website was still online in September 2026, listing Wednesday to Saturday opening from 17:30 and suggesting you book at weekends. Its Tripadvisor listing still showed evening hours too. Both are out of date. We found no public announcement giving a closing date or a reason, so we haven’t guessed at either.
What Compartir was
Floor Reitsma opened Compartir in the summer of 2019. Before that she ran Borrelplank Amsterdam, a catering business selling Dutch-style snack boards. The name is Spanish for “to share”, and that was the idea: a wine bar and restaurant where tables ordered small and medium plates and passed them around. You could stay for a full dinner or just have wine and a borrel at the bar.
The menu changed with the seasons and used Dutch ingredients where it could. Most dishes were vegetable-based, with a few fish and meat plates. When Unbookables visited in 2023, six of the eight main plates were vegetarian. ELLE Netherlands singled out dishes like gougères with blue-cheese cream and oysters with goat’s cheese and liquorice. The wine list changed often and leaned towards natural and orange wines.
The room was part of the draw. Compartir sat on a corner opposite Café de Walvis. It had a bar downstairs, a narrow staircase up to a split-level dining area, and wooden chairs on the pavement for eating outside in good weather.
What’s at Spaarndammerstraat 49H now
Hummus & Habibis runs the space now. A Syrian family who came to the Netherlands as refugees started it as a hummus catering business during lockdown. From 2020 they cooked from home in Amsterdam and Nijmegen for companies, weddings and community events, then opened this restaurant and bar in 2025. The kitchen serves Syrian family recipes and the bar serves cocktails. Much of the menu is naturally vegetarian or vegan, which may suit former Compartir regulars. I amsterdam’s reviewers picked the Mama Ghanoush (aubergine with tomato, onion and garlic) as their favourite dish.
Where Compartir was located
Compartir wasn’t in the city centre. It was on Spaarndammerstraat, the main street of the Spaarndammerbuurt, a residential neighbourhood between Westerpark and the newer Houthavens development in Amsterdam West. An earlier version of this page said it was in central Amsterdam, within walking distance of the Nine Streets and the Anne Frank House. That was wrong, and we’ve removed it.
