Greenwoods Keizersgracht - Amsterdam

Greenwoods Keizersgracht is permanently closed. The canal-side tearoom at Keizersgracht 465 served its last breakfast on Sunday 14 December 2025, and a new tenant took over the premises in the new year. Greenwoods itself has not gone: the company still runs Greenwoods Amsterdam Singel at Singel 103, open every day from 8.30am to 4pm, walk-in only. If you are standing outside Keizersgracht 465 with a booking screenshot, the restaurant you want is on the Singel, in the northern half of the canal belt.

Is Greenwoods Keizersgracht still open?

No. The Keizersgracht branch closed for good on Sunday 14 December 2025 and has not reopened under the Greenwoods name. The owners posted a farewell notice the same evening. In it they wrote that it was their last day at the Keizersgracht venue, that they were no longer open at that location, and that a new tenant would step in during the new year. They thanked customers and staff, said health reasons had forced them to cut back operations, and asked people to visit Greenwoods Singel instead. The notice is signed by Daniel and Steve.

The clearest confirmation is the company’s own website. Greenwoods lists exactly three venues in 2026 — Amsterdam Singel, Edinburgh and Middelburg. Keizersgracht does not appear on the location menu, the venue list, or the footer.

Where can you eat at Greenwoods in Amsterdam now?

At Singel 103, 1012 VG Amsterdam. Greenwoods Amsterdam Singel opens Monday to Sunday from 8.30am to 4pm, with the kitchen closing 30 minutes before the doors. It takes no reservations at all: you turn up, add your name at the door, and wait. The phone number is +31 20 623 7071 and general enquiries go to [email protected]. High tea is the one exception to the walk-in rule — that is booked by phone or email in advance.

Greenwoods has run since 1988 and now operates three sites in total. If you are travelling on from Amsterdam, the other two are worth knowing about:

Official links, all listed by Greenwoods itself: the Amsterdam Singel venue page, the current Amsterdam menu, and @greenwoods.amsterdam on Instagram for day-to-day specials. The old Keizersgracht Facebook page is no longer the right account; the operator now points to Greenwoods Singel.

What does breakfast cost at Greenwoods Singel in 2026?

Main breakfast and brunch plates run from €10.95 to €19.25 on the Summer 2026 Amsterdam menu, with most sitting between €16 and €17. That is meaningfully higher than the €14.75–€16.95 range this page carried before, which came from the closed Keizersgracht branch. Prices below are taken from the operator’s published Amsterdam Singel menu.

DishPrice
Full English Breakfast€19.25
Eggs Royale€19.25
The Sunny Side Stack€18.50
Smoked Salmon Coddled Eggs€16.95
Stroopwafel Pancake Stack€16.95
The Veggie€16.75
Cacio e Pepe Benedict€16.75
The Dutchman (Dutch farmer’s breakfast)€16.50
The Vegan€16.50
Classic Eggs Benedict€16.50
Greenwoods Shakshuka€15.95
Yoghurt Bowl€10.95
Classic Cream Tea (scone, jam, cream, pot of tea)€9.95, by reservation
Classic High Tea€28.95, by reservation
Cappuccino / filter coffee€4.25 / €3.95

Two things worth budgeting for. Gluten-free toast is a €2.95 surcharge rather than a free swap, and the common add-ons are priced separately: bacon €5.50, avocado €3.50, an extra hash brown €3.50. A single plate with a coffee therefore lands near €21–€24 per person before any additions. The loose-leaf teas come from Van Geels & Co, an Amsterdam supplier established in 1863, at €3.50 for a one-person pot.

Why do maps and review sites still show the Keizersgracht branch as open?

Because review platforms rarely retire a listing when a restaurant shuts. Nine months after the closure the Keizersgracht page on Tripadvisor is still live, still carries 2,184 reviews and a 4.6 out of 5 rating, and still displays a Travellers’ Choice 2025 badge. Yelp, OpenTable, Apple Maps and Foursquare all still hold the address. Google has even been serving a Keizersgracht menu PDF on the first page of results for “greenwoods amsterdam” — a file that now returns a 404 on the company’s own site.

A quick way to check any Amsterdam restaurant before you walk across the city: open the operator’s own website and look at its list of locations. If the branch is not on that list, it is not trading, whatever the aggregators say. For Greenwoods the list names Amsterdam Singel, Edinburgh and Middelburg, and nothing else.

Does the old Keizersgracht phone number still work?

The number long published for the Keizersgracht branch, 020 420 4330, is not the number Greenwoods uses today. The company lists a single Amsterdam line, +31 20 623 7071, for the Singel venue, and [email protected] for email. Use those. This page previously listed a [email protected] address, which we have removed because the venue it belonged to no longer exists.

What was Greenwoods Keizersgracht like?

It was an all-day British breakfast room in a canal house on Keizersgracht, a few minutes from the Bloemenmarkt flower market, with a red awning, a canal-side terrace and a long-standing queue at weekends. Reviewers consistently named the same things: the full English, eggs benedict, the scones and cream tea, the gluten-free and vegan handling, and the wait. It closed with a 4.6 rating across more than two thousand Tripadvisor reviews, which is not the profile of a restaurant that failed commercially. The owners’ notice points to health rather than trade.

Most of what people liked survives at the Singel branch under the same ownership: the same all-day breakfast format, the same walk-in policy, the same high tea, and a menu that still runs a full English, three benedicts, and a scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam.

What else is worth walking to from Singel 103?

Singel 103 sits in the northern half of the canal belt, which puts a lot within a short walk:

Sources and what we verified

Last updated 1 September 2026. This page previously described Greenwoods Keizersgracht as a trading restaurant, with opening hours, wait times and a €14.75–€16.95 menu. All of that was wrong: the venue had closed nine months earlier. This rewrite corrects it.

  • Closure and date – the owners’ farewell notice, published on the venue’s Tripadvisor listing, states that Sunday 14 December was the last day, that a new tenant would step in, and that health reasons forced a cutback. 14 December fell on a Sunday in 2025, not 2024 or 2026, which dates the closure to 2025.
  • Surviving venues, hours, prices and contact details – greenwoods.eu, the company’s own site, Amsterdam Singel and menu pages, Summer 2026 menu, checked 1 September 2026.
  • Review totals – Tripadvisor listing for Greenwoods Keizersgracht: 2,184 reviews, 4.6 out of 5.
  • Removed as unverifiable – the previous claims that 70 per cent of ingredients came from within 50km, that the space became a restaurant called Blackwoods in the evening, that the terrace was award-winning, and the tram line, wait time and Wi-Fi details. None could be confirmed against any source, and all described a venue that no longer trades.
