Lunch in Amsterdam follows the Dutch broodjes (sandwich) tradition for most workdays — a quick bread-based meal between noon and 2pm rather than a full sit-down meal. But the brunch-leaning cafés in De Pijp, Oud-West and the Negen Straatjes serve lunch as a proper event, the brasseries handle prix-fixe business lunches, and several of the city’s fine-dining restaurants run reduced lunch menus that are significantly cheaper than dinner service at the same kitchen.
