What happened to TSU Greek Pies & Pastries?

TSU opened on Dapperstraat in late 2024 as the Amsterdam branch of TSU Pies, a small Greek pie brand with shops in Leiden, Rotterdam, and Luxembourg. In April 2026, the Amsterdam shop left the TSU name behind and became Greek Me Up. The owners, Angela and Dionysis, a couple who moved to Amsterdam from Greece, stayed on. After more than ten years in hospitality and a spell inside a franchise, they wanted a concept of their own that went beyond pies, with catering, events, and a broader Greek menu.

Some things have stayed the same: the pies are still baked daily, the shop is at the same address, and it still uses the same phone number. If you have an old TSU link, map pin, or delivery-app bookmark, you are going to the right place. Just look for the Greek Me Up sign.

Angela told Ams-Oost that she still calls home to check her cooking: “I talk it over with my mother and ask: am I making it right, Mum?” (translated from Dutch).

What to order

The menu changes regularly, so regulars often find something new. These items come up again and again in the owners’ own descriptions and in local coverage:

  • Spanakopita: the spinach and feta phyllo pie, which has been a customer favourite since the TSU days. A vegan version is also offered.
  • Other savoury pies: Mediterranean vegetable and olive pies, vegan pies, and meat options such as chicken or spiced minced meat.
  • Bougatsa: the Thessaloniki-style pastry filled with custard and finished with sugar and cinnamon.
  • Tsoureki: braided Greek sweet bread. On weekends, Greek residents of Amsterdam come in for tsoureki spread with chocolate, or with peanut butter and jam, along with a traditional Greek coffee.
  • Orange cake and baklava: the orange cake is the owners’ best-selling sweet.
  • Hot dishes: moussaka and other seasonal dishes join the pies on some days.
  • Drinks: freddo espresso and freddo cappuccino (Greek-style iced coffee), traditional Greek coffee, tea, and homemade lemonade.

If it’s your first visit, order one savoury pie and one sweet to share. Spanakopita and a piece of orange cake or bougatsa gives you a good sense of the range. The staff will happily explain anything in the display case you don’t recognise.

Inside the café

Greek Me Up is small. Many customers grab a pie to go, but there are tables inside and a terrace on the corner of Dapperstraat and Pieter Vlamingstraat, facing the market. The owners host birthdays and other small parties in the space, and there’s a play corner and children’s books for young kids. That makes it an easy stop for families doing the market.

Greek High Tea, picnic boxes, and catering

Since the rebrand, the shop has offered a bookable Greek High Tea Experience for a minimum of two people. There are two versions:

  • Breakfast (€19.50 per person): savoury pies, tsoureki, fruit and nuts, Greek yoghurt, marmalade, Nutella and a Greek honey dip, plus unlimited coffee or tea.
  • Lunch (€24.50 per person): savoury pies, a seasonal Greek salad, sweet pastries, Greek finger food, and unlimited coffee or tea.

There’s also a Picnic & Boat Box, a packed box of savoury pies, desserts, yoghurt, fruit, spreads, and drinks for a park outing or a canal-boat trip. Greek Me Up caters events as well. Prices and availability can change, so check the official website before booking.

Best time to visit

Go early in the day for the best choice. The pies are baked fresh each morning, and popular items can run out by the afternoon on busy days.

  • For a quiet visit, choose a weekday morning. Foot-traffic data from BestTime puts Tuesday as the quietest day.
  • Saturday around noon is usually the busiest time, when the Dappermarkt is running at full speed.
  • The Dappermarkt runs Monday to Saturday, 09:00-17:00. Come on a market day if you want the full street atmosphere. Come on Sunday if you’d rather have a calmer Dapperstraat.
  • On weekends, you’ll hear Greek spoken at the tables, as Greek Amsterdammers come in for coffee and tsoureki.
  • On a wet day, a warm pie and a hot drink indoors is a good excuse to take a break from the market.

How to get there

Greek Me Up is at Dapperstraat 12H in the Dapperbuurt, Amsterdam-Oost. It’s outside the canal ring but easy to reach from the centre.

  • Tram: tram 14 runs from Centraal Station via Dam and Waterlooplein to the Pontanusstraat stop, about 170 m from the shop. GVB has scheduled work on Linnaeusstraat affecting tram 14 until 22 November 2026, so check GVB’s line 14 page for diversions before you set off.
  • Train: Amsterdam Muiderpoort station is the closest train station to the Dappermarkt.
  • Bike: Dapperstraat is a market street, so lock your bike on a side street and walk the final stretch on market days.
  • On foot: the shop is about 250 m from the De Gooyer windmill and Brouwerij ‘t IJ, so it’s easy to combine with a visit to either.

You don’t need a separate transit card for trams, buses, metros, or trains. With OVpay, you can check in and out using a contactless debit or credit card, or a phone with Apple Pay or Google Wallet. Always check out with the same card or device you checked in with.

Tips for visiting

  • Bring an appetite or a friend. Pies are generous, and sharing lets you try both savoury and sweet.
  • Ask the staff what’s fresh or new that day. The menu rotates, and they’ll explain the less familiar pastries.
  • Pair your pastry with a freddo cappuccino in warm weather or a traditional Greek coffee when it’s cold.
  • If you have your heart set on a particular pie, arrive before lunch.
  • Pick up a few pies to go for a picnic in Oosterpark, a short walk away.
  • Bring your own bag for takeaway, which is handy anyway if you’re shopping at the market.
  • A simple “efcharistó” (thank you) in Greek goes down well.
  • Book the Greek High Tea ahead of time if you want it for a birthday or group.
