The Amsterdam Dungeon is a walk-through horror attraction at Rokin 78, a few minutes from Dam Square, where live actors retell the grimmest true stories from Amsterdam’s past. The route covers 8 interactive shows and 750 years of city history, with scenes on the Council of Blood, witch burnings, the Flying Dutchman and a murder on the Zeedijk.
A visit takes about 60 minutes on foot, in groups of up to 30, with tours in English or Dutch. Expect jump scares, dark humour and audience participation. The attraction recommends it for ages 10 and up.
- Address: Rokin 78, 1012 KW Amsterdam. Take tram 4, 14 or 24, or metro 52, to the Rokin stop. It’s a 10 to 15 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal.
- Time needed: about 60 minutes. Your ticket time is when you can join the queue, and the wait is usually no more than 15 minutes.
- Tickets: from €19 online, or €25 at the door (September 2026). A combo ticket with Madame Tussauds starts at €29.
- Age: recommended for ages 10 and up. Children aged 15 and under must be with someone over 18.
- Think twice if you have claustrophobia or a visual impairment. The attraction is very dark, and guide dogs aren’t allowed.
